Locanda is available for the following Operating Systems:

  • Windows XP/Vista/Seven/8
  • Linux
  • Mac OS X

These are the minimum system requirements:

  • Java Development Kit: 5.0 version o higher
  • RAM: 512 Mb (1024Mb recommended)
  • Minimum disk space: 500 Mb
  • Display resolution: 1024×768 (1280×1024 or higher recommended)

Instructions for installation on a Windows environment

-Copy the content of the archive on a folder in your hard disk or usb drive.

-Locanda now uses H2 embedded database, so there is nothing to configure!

-Launch the “locanda.bat” batch file.

Tomcat will now start, and the application will be available at the URL “http://localhost:8080/locanda”

For exiting from Locanda, it is enough closing the browser window or tab. However, if you want all memory to be released, just launch “exit.bat” inside “windows” subfolder. This will stop the Tomcat process.

Instructions for installation on a Linux environment

-Check the correct installation of the packages -with all dependencies- needed to execute Apache Tomcat.
-Check that Tomcat server is up and running.
-Default database is now H2 in embedded mode, which means that the server starts and stops itself with the webapp, so you just have to copy the DB file (locanda.h2.db) from the archive root to a folder of your choice. Default, defined in the {url} tag in META-INF/context.xml, is /opt/h2/databases. In context.xml you can also change the DB credentials if you want (default are locanda:locanda). However, keep in mind that the embedded DB is accessible only from the same java process of the webapp, so it runs in a quite safe environment.
-The H2 web interface is available at http://localhost:11111

-The application is packaged into a .WAR archive, in the folder “Linux”. You can easily deploy it with the Tomcat manager webapp, at the URL “http://localhost:8080/manager”
-Copy the “solr” folder of the archive to any place in your file system
-In the Tomcat webapp WEB-INF folder, open the “applicationContext.xml” file and edit the two paths in the tag:
<bean id=”multiCoreContainer”> by substituting the label {solr.path} with the absolute path where you copied the “solr” folder to.

-The application is now available at the URL “http://localhost:8080/locanda”.

*If you want to use MySQL, you need to change the JDBC driver in META-INF/context.xml and set the proper credentials. Then just import the locanda database (an empty locanda schema must be previously created) from “locanda.sql” placed in the archive root
